My Challenge

My Challenge

Walking In The Tree TopsI am about to celebrate a huge birthday.  A while back I realized that this time next year, I will become a senior citizen!!! ..... 90% of the time I still feel like I am in my mid 40’s ..... reality has not sunk in ..... and I really do not want it to!

My challenge to myself is to try 65 things I have never done in the next 12 months, before I turn 65 ..... that should make this an interesting year!  A ‘bucket list’ is a list of things you want to do before you die ..... this is different, in that I have no idea what I want these 65 things to be.

This is where you come in, can I ask you to introduce me to or suggest something new, something you think I might enjoy? ..... something  Relatively safe and legal please!

The Mini Zip - Hanging On For Dear Life

You Want Me To Go Way Up There???To start, I took my grandson on a Tree Top Adventure; we balanced as we walked on a high wire, suspended by clips, navigated floating walkways high above the ground and finished off with a 351 foot zip line over water.  Now that was exhilarating!  We had a blast

..... I will not pretend it was easy, swaying back and forth up there in the air, but it was a super experience.

Soo ..... what do you think you could suggest?

The few people I have told about this personal challenge think I am nuts, but that is nothing new, they keep saying how 65 is a big number and it will be difficult to accomplish 65 new things.

I’m up for it ..... let’s see what you can come up with. It could be as simple as trying a new food, or ?????

For the last 9 days I have had laryngitis, negotiating 4 deals with no voice, that has been a challenge too, maybe I can count that as a new experience ..... let’s hope it heals up quickly and never happens again.

Make It A Great Year

Keeping Up With Technology

Keeping Up With Technology

Leaves You With Boat Anchors

In order to provide the best service possible REALTORS®  have to keep up to date with technology. That often means updating all kinds of electronics such as cell phones, computers, tablets and all sorts of peripherals. The old technology usually becomes boat anchors, often gathering dust in some dark corner of the basement.

If you have any "Boat Anchors" stored in your basement here is an opportunity clear it out.

Safety Reminders For Halloween

FULL SIZED IMAGE

Halloween Safety Tips

  • Warn children to not eat any of their treats before they get home.
  • Examine all treats carefully before allowing children to eat them.
  • use flame resistant costumes, masks, beards, and wigs.
  • Avoid flimsy materials and outfits with big, baggy sleeves or billowing skirts to minimize the risk of contact with candles or other sources of ignition.
  • Make or buy costumes that are light and bright enough to be clearly visible to motorists.
  • Carry flashlights to see, and be seen, more easily.
  • Costumes should be short enough to prevent children from tripping and falling.
  • Hats and scarfs should be tied securely to prevent them from slipping over children's eyes.
  • Apply a natural mask of cosmetics rather than have a child wear a loose fitting mask.
  • Swords, knives, and similar costume accessories should be of soft or flexible material.
  • Smaller children should always be accompanied by an older responsible child or an adult.
  • Children should be cautioned against running out from between parked cars, or across lawns and yards where ornaments, furniture, or clothes-lines present dangers.
  • Do not enter homes or apartments unless accompanied by an adult.

October 2011 Mid Month Market Update

LOCAL MARKET UPDATES

There are currently 154 properties on the market in Uxbridge and it's Hamlets of Coppins Corners, Goodwood, Leaskdale, Sandford, Udora, and Zephyr,  ranging in price from $159,900  to $4,490,000

October has seen web site visitor activity pick up from September 2011 but slow down* locally for the first half of the month over October 2010 ..... There has been a dip in the average price of homes viewed from last month which can be attributed to the lack of very high end buyers (over 2 million) but the median price remained exactly the same

Thank You For Paying It Forward - Matthew House

We could not have done it with out you!!

Matthew House Refugee Reception ServicesThanks to all our wonderful supporters and participants Matthew House was able to not only reach our fundraising goal for this years run we wera able to surpass it. Your support is greatly appreciated as this run is one of our major fundraising events of the year.

Matthew House exists because of the simple kindness and generosity of those who care about the hardships faced by many refugees as it recieves no direct government funding.

This year all 6 of my grandchildren Joined me in lacing up our sneakers to take part in this fun and worthwhile event. One of my daughters and one of my son in laws were also able to join us nd even the youngest member of our group crossed the finish line. As much as I enjoyed the walk itself, the real reason I take part is the opportunity to raise support for an organization that I'm passionate about.

Thank You and Thanks For Your Support!

For Matthew House and for our family team.

Kathy

Remember The Real Estate Market Is Local And Sometimes Hyper Local

While charts and graphs can give you an indication of market trends they should not be used to determine value trends in relation to a particular home or vicinity. The best way to determine the Value of Your Home is a Comparative Market Analysis. To discuss today's local Uxbridge Real Estate Market Conditions, the current value of your home or the marketing of your Home please give me a Call or Text me

*these graphs look at the activity on one of my web sites only some buyer activity has moved to one of my other sites due to some promoting we have been doing and this will be affecting the year over year numbers

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Honours Matthew House

Matthew House Refugee Reception ServicesScotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Honours Matthew House

The 22nd annual Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM), Half-Marathon and 5km Run/Walk will take place in Toronto Tomorrow Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 9:00 a.m.

Matthew House was honoured this year to be chosen as one of the Featured Charities in The Charity Challenge.

The Scotiabank's Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM) is one of only five recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). For the fourth consecutive year, the STWM has been awarded a prestigious Silver Label by the IAAF.

In 2010, the STWM was ranked as 6th fastest marathon in the world, 3rd fastest women's race in the world and holds the record for both the fastest men's and women's marathons on Canadian soil (2:07:58 run last year by Kenneth Mungara & 2:22:43 by Sharon Cherop). The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon attracts participants from over 50 countries and this year's goal is to raise more than $3 million for 164 charities.

This year all 6 of my grandchildren will join me in lacing up our sneakers to take part in this fun and worthwhile event. As much as I'll enjoy the walk itself, the real reason I look forward to it is the opportunity to raise support for an organization that I'm passionate about -- Matthew House .

The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon includes a 5km, half-marathon (21.1km), and full marathon (42.2km) run. For more information please visit www.stwm.ca.

I'm raising funds for Matthew House Refugee Reception Services.

We Are Almost There ..... as of this moment Matthew house has reached 99% of their fundraising goal

I hope you will consider sponsoring me to help me surpass my fund-raising goal

Thanksgiving -- A Time To Reflect - A Time To Be Thankful

Thanksgiving  - A Time To Be Thankful - A Time To Reflect

Around our house Thanksgiving means several things.

Fall Colours In Muskoka

It is a time to enjoy the fall colours.

Stream In The Woods -Muskoka

Take A Walk In The Woods

Playing In The Leaves Muskoka

Play In The Leaf Piles

Closing Up The Summer Hideaway - Muskoka

Close Up The Summer Hideway

Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner With Family

BUT MOSTLY IT IS A TIME TO BE THANKFUL

A time to think about all the things we are thankful for not just the bounty of the harvest.

A time to remember those less fortunate and the food banks that they rely on.

And

A TIME TO REFLECT

No longer will I sit on the sidelines and watch as a suffering world revolves around me

I would Challenge each and everyone to reach out and touch someone be it as close as a neighbour going through a hard time to some one half way around the world. Your assistance can vary from donating to a local food bank, a local shelter, to traveling halfway around the world to help, educate, rebuild housing destroyed in a disaster, or offer aid and assistance. if we can all do just one thing, then the world will be better for it and so would we.

From Our House To Yours

Hope You Had A Wonderful Thanksgiving
